Our Services
At Nest, we provide a comprehensive, continuity-based model of care that supports families from before birth through the first months of life. Whether you’re welcoming your baby in hospital, settling in at home, or navigating early concerns, we’re here every step of the way.
-
Welcoming a baby is one of life’s most transformative moments – exciting, emotional, and often overwhelming. At Nest, we believe that meaningful support should begin before your baby arrives.
That’s why we offer something unique: bulk-billed antenatal video consults, giving you the opportunity to meet us ahead of time and talk through your baby’s care with us. These gentle, unhurried conversations are about building trust, easing uncertainty, and laying the foundations for a confident start.
Third Trimester Video Consult (30 min)
This is an opportunity to meet us, get ahead of any worries, and feel more prepared – so when the time comes, you know exactly who’s caring for your baby and what to expect.
We typically cover:
Introducing our team and explaining how Nest works
Your pregnancy journey so far, and any concerns or complications
Planning ahead for care during and after delivery
What to expect in the first hours and days after birth
Discussing preferences, expectations, and early parenting questions
Clarifying our hospital care pathway and follow-up schedule
Our antenatal consults are provided at no cost, as they are fully bulk-billed. Should complications arise, we will adjust the timing or add consults to support you at every step.

Nest provides direct, specialist care for babies born at Gold Coast Private Hospital – including hands-on reviews, 24/7 availability, and seamless collaboration with midwives and maternity staff. Led by a neonatologist, our care brings NICU-level expertise to the bedside of every baby, allowing us to safely support a wider range of newborns – including smaller, more complex, and unexpectedly unwell babies. We can also safely provide care for many babies who would otherwise be transferred elsewhere.
Our goal is to ensure your baby’s transition to life outside the womb is safe, smooth, and supported, while giving you space to begin your parenting journey with confidence. Our clinic rooms are adjacent to Gold Coast Private – allowing for close collaboration with maternity staff, rapid response to concerns, and seamless continuity between hospital and follow-up care.
Initial Review (Day 0–1)
We attend your baby’s birth if needed or otherwise review your baby shortly after delivery. Even in well babies, this early review offers reassurance and helps detect issues before they escalate.
This first assessment includes:
A full newborn examination
Monitoring early adaptation (breathing, tone, colour, reflexes)
Identifying concerns like temperature instability or poor feeding
Answering early parental questions
Creating a personalised care plan
Progress Review (Day 1–3)
We work closely with the midwifery team to coordinate care, support you with practical guidance, and answer questions in an unhurried way.
In the first few days, we review your baby’s:
Feeding, hydration and weight gain
Jaundice, urine/stool output and settling
Development of any new or evolving concerns
Discharge Review (Day 3–5)
We aim to leave you feeling prepared and confident to take your baby home. Before heading home, we complete a second detailed examination to:
Confirm weight gain and feeding establishment
Address any unresolved concerns
Provide guidance on what’s normal – and what’s not – in the early weeks
Plan follow-up care and ensure you know how to reach us
Throughout your stay, we remain available 24/7 for any concerns – from jaundice and vomiting to unsettled behaviour or simply a sense that something’s not right.
Midwives contact us directly if needed, and we stay in daily communication with the team, adjusting care in real time. Even outside of scheduled visits, your baby is under expert oversight.
-
Our specialist team provides gentle, expert newborn assessments after birth, ensuring your baby makes a smooth transition in their critical first hours. Nest provides an expert neonatal safety netfor your midwife-led birth. Our NICU-level expertise and hospital infrastructure means that if concerns arise, they are identified early and managed seamlessly.
Our goal is to ensure your baby’s transition to life outside the womb is safe, smooth, and supported, while respecting your birth choices and giving you space to begin your parenting journey with confidence. Our clinic rooms are adjacent to Matrescence – allowing for close collaboration with midwives, rapid response to concerns, and seamless continuity between hospital and follow-up care.
Pre-Discharge Review
We routinely review your baby in their crucial early hours prior to your discharge home. Your midwife may also ask us to be available shortly after birth, if concerns emerge during labour. Even in well babies, our early review offers reassurance and helps detect issues before they escalate.
This pre-discharge assessment includes:
A full specialist newborn examination
Monitoring early adaptation (breathing, tone, colour, reflexes)
Identifying concerns like temperature instability or poor feeding
Answering early parental questions
Creating a personalised care plan
GCPH Nursery Transfer (If Required)
If we identify that your baby needs ongoing care, our team can continue your baby’s care through transfer to the comfortable and well-equipped Level 4 Special Care Nursery at Gold Coast Private Hospital.

The early weeks after birth can be beautiful and challenging, and our care is designed to support you well beyond discharge with structured reviews and flexible support when you need it most. Drawing on NICU-grade follow-up, we offer longer appointments, expert insight, and a calm space to ask questions early – before small concerns escalate.
Our clinic is located at RDX Lumina, a state-of-the-art health and research facility next to Gold Coast Private Hospital, with private rooms, a dedicated waiting area, easy pram access and space for siblings to play.
3-Week Phone Review (20 min)
A scheduled check-in with our experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, which is fully bulk-billed. This gentle conversation often aligns with the “three-week dip” – a time when questions, fatigue or feeding concerns commonly arise.
Topics we often cover:
Feeding, sleep and settling
Early growth and weight gain
Tailored tips and reassurance
Planning for follow-up or extra support
6-Week Clinic Review (45 min)
Your first in-person review at our RDX rooms. This extended session goes far beyond a standard check-up – offering a chance to assess your baby’s health and development in depth, address any concerns, and strengthen your confidence as a parent. This review is generally with a Neonatologist.
We typically include:
Full physical and developmental assessment
Review of feeding, growth, digestion and sleep
Parental wellbeing and emotional adjustment
Personalised guidance and reassurance
4-Month Clinic Review (45 min)
This important milestone visit is a core part of our follow-up schedule at Nest. It captures a stage of rapid change – often missed if care ends at six weeks – and helps ensure your baby’s development is progressing as expected. This review is either with a Neonatologist or Paediatrician, as your baby transitions into infancy.
We typically cover:
Motor and social development
Starting solids and feeding transitions
Sleep changes and regressions
Milestone tracking and early identification of any red flags
Personalised guidance for the months ahead
Between visits, you’re never on your own. Nest combines specialist-level care with personal continuity – so whether you’re after reassurance, clarification or just a listening ear, we’re always here.
You’ll have continuous email access for non‑urgent questions, the option of extra appointments if needed, and ongoing access to Nest Notes, our evidence‑based library of newborn and infant care guides.

Nest welcomes referrals from GPs and other health professionals for newborns and young infants, with plans to expand to full paediatric referrals as our team grows.
Led by neonatologist Associate Professor Anand Ramineni, we provide continuity-based care from birth to four months, including in-hospital care and clinic follow-up.
We’re happy to review any newborn concern, including feeding and settling issues, jaundice or early growth concerns, prematurity or complex birth history, NICU/SCN follow-up, early developmental questions, and parental anxiety.
Referrals (12‑month GP referrals for Medicare rebates) can be sent via Medical Objects, email (hello@nestnewborn.com.au), or Halaxy (search “Associate Professor Anand Ramineni – Nest Newborn Clinic”).

Nest Notes is our digital resource hub – a collection of trusted, clinician-written guides to support families through the early months. It’s designed to complement our care with clear, practical advice on newborn topics like feeding, sleep, reflux, development, and what to expect at each stage.
Nest Notes is freely available on our website for all families – whether you’re already seeing us or simply looking for expert newborn guidance. You don’t need to be a patient to access it, and we encourage GPs and health professionals to share it with families who may benefit.

We work closely with a trusted network of allied health professionals who specialise in infant care. As part of your journey with Nest, we may recommend or coordinate support from:
Lactation consultants
Paediatric physiotherapists
Speech therapists
Infant dietitians
Tongue tie and circumcision providers
These partnerships allow us to offer your baby truly holistic care, tailored to their individual needs.
